Drone Navigation Firms Seek New Ways Past Warzone Jamming
July 23, 2026, Gerry. Doyle- Dr. Walter Stockwell, Vice President of Aerial Solutions at ANELLO Photonics, joins Bloomberg’s Gerry Doyle and his feature on Farnborough International Airshow on the growing demand for GPS-denied drone navigation. Doyle highlights how battlefield jamming, spoofing, and other countermeasures are accelerating the need for alternative navigation systems that can help drones and autonomous platforms stay on course when GPS, radio links, or other guidance methods are disrupted.
Bloomberg highlights several emerging approaches to resilient navigation, including Q-CTRL’s quantum navigation technology, ASIO’s camera-based navigation, and ANELLO Photonics’ compact, no-moving-parts optical gyro. Dr. Stockwell explains that each navigation modality has strengths and limitations depending on the environment, while ANELLO’s inertial navigation technology provides a reliable layer that continues operating when GPS cannot be trusted.
